Once I got on the aircraft for the first time, I found a flight attendant that was exceptionally calm, friendly and sensitive to my needs. She suggested that I sit in the front because I would be able to see the crew, and the first experiences the least amount of movement during turbulence. I gladly accepted. If you are nervous, be sure to make arrangements to have a front seat and also to inform the crew that you are scared. They will ensure that you are taken care of and will provide a high level of comfort to you while on the flight. This step is very important when learning how to overcome fear of flying.

If you are attempting to overcome fear of flying, you should always ensure that you take something that will distract you from the thoughts associated with the fear. You may take a laptop, a Kindle, a PDA, a portable game system, a portable DVD player, a small CD player or a MP3 player.
